It has never been a more fruitful time for collaborations with foreign scientists, and the European Union (EU) is leading the pack. Spurred by funding policies, half of EU research articles had international co-authors in 2007, more than twice the level of two decades ago, according to a major report released last week by the US National Science Foundation.rnThe EU level of international co-authorship is about twice that of the United States, Japan and India, but levels in these countries are rising - a sign of the continued allure of working across borders.
