New protein purification tools focus on better understanding of protein function and interactions in high-throughput formats. Functional genomic approaches can expand knowledge of sequenced organisms. Here''s how. Pouring large (26cm by 20cm) gradient gels can introduce considerable variation, yet pre-cast gels, though more consistent, can be expensive. To solve this problem, NextGen Sciences Ltd furthers its 2D gel electrophoretic line with a2DEoptimizer™, which automates 2D gel casting to user-defined gradients. "Once the gradient has been designed and stored on the computer, the gels are then cast automatically by the system, giving the same result every time that particular profile is recalled." says Paul Orange, Senior Product Manager at NextGen Sciences. The a2DEoptimizer™ can be used with many systems including NextGen''s autocast12™.
