摘要

A consequence of the Chernobyl nuclear accident is an increased rate of inherited mutation in mammals (including humans) living in the region. But the causes and the long-term effects on health remain unclear. Tomorrow, the 26th of April, is the tenth anniversary of the world's worst reported nuclear accident, the explosion at the nuclear power station near Chernobyl, Ukraine. To date, most public concern has centred on the short-term effects of the disaster, especially on the immediate health consequences for people who lived or worked in the area around the failed reactor.
