Delivering the best possible medical care requires two things: timely and accurate patient information, and a reli-able and cost-effective mechanism for putting it in the physician's hands. To provide the former, the CapitalCare Medical Group installed a wireless electronic medical records (EMR) system. Accessed by doctors using handheld tablet PCs, the new system automates the tedious process of creating and accessing patient files. To assure the latter, nearly every component of the physician group's infrastructure has the HP name on it, including the tablet PCs, wireless LAN and Proliant servers running Citrix software that power the real-time system. "We have a high sense of confidence in HP products," says Charles Hagstrand, CapitalCare's chief information officer, "and our local HP reseller provides excellent technical support."
