Finnish broadcasting group MTV Media is trying to attract more women subscribers to its pay-television service by removing programmes that are popular with female viewers from its free-to-air channels and putting them on pay channels. The company hopes to repeat the success of moving live coverage of Formula One motor racing from its main free-to-air channel, MTV3, to the male-focused pay channel MTV3 Max. Since this move, in March 2007, MTV Media has added 300,000 pay-television subscribers.
