Future usage of personal video recorders may not be as high as previously predicted as expanding video-on-demand services make inroads into the potential market, according to a report published this week. A study by Essential Research Pandora: The PVR Reality, claims that although there is "huge value" attached to personal video recorders (PVRs) by their owners, only a minority (about 20 per cent) are likely to bypass linear scheduling to create their own channels by planning and recording most of their viewing in advance.
