Due largely to the Noise Regulation Law and the Vibration Regulation Law, the conventional percussion pile driving method has almost been impossible to adopt in urban areas. Nippon Steel has developed a low-noise and low-vibration pile driving method named Gantetsu pile. It is highly earthquake-resistance and causes less dam- age to the environment than conventional pile driving methods. The ground soil is mixed with cement milk to form a solid cement column, into which a pile with an embossed exterior is driven to form a steel and soil cement composite pile.
