摘要

The nuclear workforce appears largely comfortable when talking about the sector and their work with friends, family and the general public during face-to-face conversations; 79% of respondents said they either felt 'very comfortable' or Somewhat comfortable' in such a situation. However, an even larger percentage of respondents (86%) said they felt comfortable saying, 'I don't know', if they weren't sure how to answer a nuclear-related question during a conversation. These are encouraging signs for a sector that faces challenges around public perception, as the polling indicates the nuclear workforce are generally happy to engage, and to do so in an open and honest manner. Such characteristics will be vital for building a trusting relationship with civil society. Most agreed there is support available to help them feel comfortable talking about nuclear (58%), though a sizeable proportion of respondents indicated that support was lacking or non-existent (38%). This suggests that the available support may not be accessible, or visible, to the entire nuclear workforce.
