It is my privilege to address you as the new Editor-in-Chief of Nuclear Fusion, a responsibility that I took on during the course of 2014. It is indeed a great honour for me to assume this role, particularly at such a crucial moment for fusion, when the construction of ITER is in full swing, and when various parties around the world are moving towards defining the step beyond ITER, with the goal of demonstrating the feasibility of fusion as a safe and virtually unlimited energy source. I will do my best to ensure that the journal will continue to play a crucial role in the development of fusion, evolving in a way that will help support the efforts of the international fusion community in achieving this goal.
