Industry authorities warn that skill shortages in Australia's oil and gas sector could have dire consequences. In fact, it is such a concern that last month's Australasian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference (AOG) in Perth made the dramatic skills shortage one of its central focus areas. One of the major obstacles in attracting skilled workers is said to be a lack of clear communication from the industry regarding training locations for job seekers, the skills they should focus on in their training, and the ways to maximize their chances of entering the industry.
