摘要

This Special Issue comprises 27 selected papers from the 6th International Conference on "Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices" (NU-SOD), which was held at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in September 2006. Nanometer scale semiconductor structures are often at the heart of modern optoelectronic devices. These devices are very complex systems, whose electronic, optical, and thermal responses are highly coupled and often non-linear. The small size and the increasing complexity of devices and systems make computer simulation an important tool in device analysis and design. This Special Issue starts with contributions on the simulation of nanostructures and novel materials, followed by papers on discrete devices such as laser diodes, amplifiers, light-emitting diodes, photodetectors, and solar cells. Photonic circuits and fiber-optic systems are covered at the end of this issue.
