摘要

Efficient second-harmonic conversion of 4 μm radiation was demonstrated in orientation-patterned GaAs (OPGaAs)nwaveguides (WGs). An experimentally corrected phase-matching curve for second harmonic generation (SHG) innOPGaAs WGs is presented. Influence of WG modes on the SHG process was studied. Two distinct types of SHG innthe waveguides were identified and related to the TE and TM modes. Each type has its own dependence on pumpnpolarization. The 21% W−1nnormalized conversion efficiency iswithin a factor of 0.75 fromthe predicted value for annideal WG. © 2010 Optical Society of America

    We propose multilayer cylindrical invisibility cloaks that are optimized for oblique incidences through a combina-tion of analytic formalism of scattering and genetic optimization. We show that by using only four layers of homo-geneous and anisotropic metamaterials without large values of constitutive parameters, the scattering for obliqueincidences can be reduced by 2 orders. Although the optimization is done at a single incident angle, the cloakprovides reduced scattering over a large range of incident angles. © 2010 Optical Society of America;
