Reports of an upcoming ban on plastic takeaway packaging in Oxford have been at best hugely exaggerated and at worst erroneous, according to the Foodservice Packaging Association director Martin Kersh. The Oxford Mail reported that the city was set to be the first in the UK to ban non-recyclable plastic takeaway boxes. However, Kersh, who lives near the city, spoke at the Oxford City Council Licensing Committee meeting to set the record straight, saying that a ban had not been agreed on neither had it been stipulated that a particular material was being singled out.
