Wrap has defended its decision to award bonuses to senior staff, following criticism in the national press.rnA story in the Daily Mail criticised the "bin banisher's reward" as it reported that a £30,000 bonus was paid to chief executive Liz Goodwin for "abolishing weekly rubbish collections". The bonus, the story added, pushed the salary of Goodwin above that of the Prime Minister.rnThe newspaper also reported a £14,000 bonus for Phillip Ward, Wrap director of local government services, a similar amount for chief financial officer Hugh Etheridge and £8,000 for director Ray Georgeson.rnHowever, in a statement to Packaging News, Wrap hitrnback at the coverage, saying that bonuses were "discretionary and based on meeting objectives".
