Industrial packaging specialist Greifhas said it will continue to pursue growth opportunities, despite reporting a 38% drop in profit before tax in the third quarter of the year. Greif's net income before tax fell 38% to $54m in the three-month period ending 31 July compared to 2008. Net sales dropped by31% to £7l8m. The Ohio-headquartered company's profits suffered from lower sales volumes and prices across its industrial packaging, paper and timber businesses in this period. However, Michael Gasser, Greif chairman and chief executive, said the company would continue to execute a disciplined growth strategy.
