Nampak Plastics has claimed to have created the world's first four-pint milk bottle containing 30% recycled high density polyethylene (HDPE). The plastic packaging giant worked in partnership with Closed Loop Recycling and the breakthrough came just weeks after Nampak created an even lighter Infini bottle. That weighed at 32g and, according to Nampak, represented a 20% material saving on the standard four-pint version found in most supermarkets. Speaking exclusively to Packaging News, Nampak Plastics managing director Eric Collins said the firm was working on pushing its new 30% recycled HPDE content bottle into mass production by 2014.
