It's perhaps a sign of the times that an exhibition aimed squarely at the print community should give the packaging world a platform to showcase its strengths. The commercial print sector has had it tough over the last few years and that's not just down to a tough economic environment. Online, which has made inroads into retail, has also eaten into markets such as books, magazines and direct mail. With this perfect storm, print firms are now looking towards a more stable market - packaging. And so too are many of the industry's equipment suppliers with the latest hardware and software geared towards the packaging and labelling sector.
