The National Centre for Food Manufacturing recently ran a project that revealed some startling results about food and packaging waste in factories. The study was funded by Wrap and looked at the seal integrity of packages from 105 heat sealing machines in 11 different factories. It assessed the quantity of less than perfect seals being manufactured, the reasons for the faults and the systems used in the management of heat seal integrity.
