Four months have passed since the enforcement of the Law for Promotion of Sorted Collection and Recycling of Containers and Packaging, which is the first full-scale pub- lic recycling system in Japan to cover all the regions in Japan. As the central organiza- tion for operating this system, the Japan Containers and Packaging Recycling Associa- tion has promoted its service targeting municipalities operating sorted collection sys- tems, mainly under consignment from specified businesses that are required by the law to re-commercialize used glass and PET bottles that have been collected through sorted collection systems.
