Recycling of glass bottles is now primarily done through re-use of returnable bottles and re-use of collected bottles as a raw material of new glass bottles (cullets). In addi- tion to these, it has become an important issue how we can expand the use of collected bottles beyond re-use as new glass bottles. In response to the Law for Promotion of Sorted Collection and Recycling of Containers and Packaging, which was enforced this April, three types of recycling will further be promoted.
