Hacksensack Riverkeeper Inc. and others moved on Feb. 11 for award of outstanding attorneys' fees totaling $1,626,785.87 - based on Washington, DC rates - and expenses totaling $844,349.85 against Honeywell Inc. in litigation over environmental cleanup of adjacent areas in Jersey City. The case is in federal court for the District of New Jersey. The plaintiffs say these latest costs were incurred in litigating their claim under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act with respect to chromium contamination resulting from the operations of Mutual Chemical Company, Honeywell's predecessor in interest.
