摘要

The Jack Morrow Hills (JMH) area encompasses a total of 625,934 acres in the northern part of the Greater Green River Basin, southwestern Wyoming (Fig. 2.1). The Greater Green River Basin (GGRB) is a composite province, consisting of multiple foreland depocenters―the Green River Basin, Sand Wash Basin, Washakie Basin and Red Desert Basin (also known as Great Divide Basin)― separated by basement uplift features, including the Rock Springs Uplift, Wamsutter Arch and Cherokee Ridge. These basins and uplifts are all of Laramide age (Upper Cretaceous-Tertiary). However, regional patterns of faulting and the orientation of major uplift features suggest that older tectonic elements influenced the location and development of Laramide structures.
