The temperature dependence of the liquid structure factor S(k) of dense monatomic fluids, and especially a variety of liquid metals, is studied by combining thermodynamics and fluctuation theory in the long wavelength limit k → 0. Emphasis is placed on the connection of with thermal expansivity.
