Consumer's Energy has suc-cessfully completed installa-tion of a 6-in. steel gas distribution line and a 4-in. medium density polyethylene (MDPE) line under the Saginaw River in downtown Saginaw, Michigan. To install the lines, crews had to complete two separate bores: 930 and 945 ft, respectively, through sand, clay, and stone cobble, at 42-ft depths. The gas distribution line was connected to existing medium-pressure facilities on both sides of the river. The MDPE pipe will serve as a conduit for a telecommunications wireline.
