Results from an industry survey released ahead of Oil & Gas iQ's 2nd annual Offshore Safety Summit, March 19-21 in Aberdeen, Scotland, provides responses from leading health and safety (HSE) and offshore safety professionals on prevention and response to critical incidents. Three-quarters of survey respondents say there was more pressure on offshore operators regarding HSE than in previous years. This is undoubtedly fueled by recent oil spill disasters such as the Deepwater Horizon spill in the U.S. Gulf where 11 workers were killed and 17 injured. The survey notes problems with technology and equipment as a worry by 10.8% of respondents, with a similar number saying that having the right processes in place and reacting to new legislation reflect their firm's biggest challenges.
