Global Industries, Ltd.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Global Offshore Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V, has been awarded additional work of $40 million by PEMEX. This latest contract will involve the dismantling of a drilling rig which was involved in an accident on Oct. 23, 2007. Global's Titan 2, which was nearby completing work on the Ixtal Pipeline Project, was immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident to assist in the rescue efforts. Now that those efforts are complete, PEMEX has chosen Global to conduct the decommissioning and dismantling of the drill rig and Kab 101 platform. This work should take approximately 60 days. Since the Titan 2 had to suspend operations working on the Ixtal Project, PEMEX requested that another Global vessel, the Shawnee, be dispatched to the Bay of Campeche to complete the Ixtal work, which should also take approximately 60 days. The Shawnee recently mobilized to the project. The Ixtal Pipeline Project includes trenching, installation, subsea interconnects and pre-comissioning of a 9.6-mile, 24-inch pipeline in PEMEX's Ixtal Field, off Dos Bocas, Tabasco. McDermott International, Inc.'s subsidiary, I Ray McDermott, S.A. has been awarded a contract by PEMEX Exploracion y Produccion, Northeast Marine Region, for the fabrication of the Maloob-C drilling platform. The project is located in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap field in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico in 269 feet of water. Work on the drilling platform recently got under way. Designed to sustain 18 wells, the platform will have a 3,200-short ton eight-legged jacket and a two-level deck weighing just over 2,500 short tons, with more than 3,300 short tons of piles. The contract is expected to be completed early in 2009.
