Based outside of Dallas in Crandall, TX, the Danielle Dawn Smalley Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on working with the pipeline industry to bring safety and public awareness programs to a wide array of audiences. The organization was founded in 2002 by Danny Smalley after the death of his daughter, Danielle, 18, who was killed by a leaking butane gas pipeline. Smalley's epiphany to establish the Foundation turned grief into good as he and the organization are becoming leaders in the realm of pipeline safety train- ings. The Foundation partners with pipeline companies to meet their public awareness needs and keeps their programs in step with ever-evolving state and federal requirements and regulations. Foundation programs touch many diverse groups of people, but essentially focus on four core target audiences: first responders, excavators, civic and community groups, and school systems.
