摘要

Plans to increase the use of clean energy in Southeast Asia have encouraged the launch of an ambitious gas pipeline construction programme that eventually will link most gas-producing and gas-consuming countries in the region. Since Malaysia first began to export piped gas to Singapore in 1992, several other SE Asian countries also have concluded bilateral gas sales agreements. Currently three more transnational pipelines are under construction or are at the advanced planning stage. These, and other pipeline projects planned for the coming decade, will eventually link up to form the long-talked-about Trans-ASEAN (Association of SE Asian Nations) gas pipeline grid.
