I read with interest Marc Lee's response to a letter, "Advice On Flying Lessons" [Letters, March 2014], asking if it would be better to learn to fly in a tailwheel or a tricycle-landing-gear airplane. I wish to offer this perspective. I learned to fly in the standard Cessna 150 during the mid '70s. I flew just enough to stay current (or just current enough to be really dangerous) until I purchased my Husky A-1 in 2002. Lee recommended learning to fly with the conventional gear instructor. After all these years and now a thousand hours or so in the Husky, I would say go flying with both instructors. When I purchased my Husky, the insurance required me to have 10 hours of dual instruction.
