Entergy's number one strategic priority for 2008 is to complete the spin-off of its merchant nuclear fleet into a separate company, Chairman and CEO J. Wayne Leonard said last week. The company has made the necessary supplemental filings regarding the transaction to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. It expects to file for regulatory approval with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission this month. Entergy on January 28 made regulatory filings in Vermont and New York, which will likely set the time frame for the close of the transaction, Leonard said. The company expects to have scheduling orders next month from the two states on their timetable for approving the transfer of ownership.
