In an effort to determine why three power marketers were classified as load-serving entities under the electric reliability organization's registry of users, owners and operators, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission plans to hold a technical conference in the next several weeks.rnDirect Energy Services, Sempra Energy Solutions and Strategic Energy appealed to FERC last month that they should not have been classified as LSEs but as retail power marketers that sell energy to retail end-use customers within the ReliabilityFirst region (Docket No. RC07-4). LSEs are required to abide by more stringent standards that would require them to invest more money and resources to comply.
