The German government on Feb. 10 approved interim regulation for hydrogen networks as part of a wider reform of the energy industry act (EnWG). The regulation separates treatment of hydrogen networks from natural gas networks, a point of contention for gas grid operators who believe the move will slow the sector’s development. For its part, the government has said it wants to keep the costs of hydrogen networks ringfenced from natural gas consumer bills.
