A new 850 MW CCGT unit at Tavazzano, Italy, proposed by EP Produzione, has received environmental approval, the government said. The plant will replace one of the 320 MW gas-fired units at the site, which has an existing capacity of 1.46 GW, while a 380 MW unit will also be reduced to a maximum 3,000 hours/year, according to EP. Once concluded, the plant will have 2.0 GW of capacity, it said. The efficiency will also increase, as the idled unit 8’s conversion rate of 38% is replaced by the 60% efficiency of the new unit.
