Portugal’s thermal production increased 26.6% to 1.3 TWh in October year-on-year, according to data published November 3 by grid operator Redes Energeticas Nacionais. It met some 32.2% of adjusted demand for the month of 4.04 TWh. Adjusted demand was up 0.3% year on year. Actual demand of 4.01 TWh was down 0.1% year on year. Renewables output excluding large hydro fell 3% YoY in October to 1.67 TWh, a 41.3% share of the total mix – up from a 32.1% share in September this year and from 39.9% in August. Large hydro generation fell 14.4% year on year to 745 GWh during October. Hydro stocks in reservoirs and rivers at the end of the month were 1.92 TWh or 62.2% of capacity, up from 1.70 TWh, or 55.1% at the end of September, according to REN.
