In a second quarter described by Vistra Energy's CEO as "an unprecedented tail event," the Texas-based generation and retail electricity provider's reported net income dropped by about 54% in comparison with Q2 2019, stakeholders learned in an earnings call Aug. 5. In statistics, a "tail event" is one at either end of a normal bell curve distribution of outcomes that has an extremely low probability of occurring.
