Switzerland's head regulator told his German counterparts last week that they should not "look for safety perfection" during an ongoing updating of Germany's nuclear power plant safety requirements and guidelines. Ulrich Schmocker, director of Switzerland's regulator HSK, the Hauptabteilung fuer die Sicherheit der Kernanlagen, attended a symposium for nuclear law experts in Berlin on December 4. The HSK director made his remarks during a discussion about safety requirements for nuclear power plants, prompted by the German revision.
