The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Wednesday rejectedtwo waiver requests that PJM Interconnection argued were necessaryto mitigate hundreds of millions in losses to its members andconsumers related to a trader's default in the grid operator's financialtransmission rights market.In a pair of decisions PJM said it will challenge, FERC ordered thegrid operator to unwind five months of settlements to close out thetrader's portfolio and reinstate the results of a July 2018 auction —while at the same time rejecting PJM's request to hold $550,000 incollateral from a company linked to the defaulted trader. FERC alsorevealed it is investigating the trader - GreenHat Energy - for potential market manipulation or other violations of the commission'srules and regulations.
