New York's Consolidated Edison was trying on Monday to restorepower to customers following a Sunday evening blackout, its secondblackout in eight days.Con Ed, which serves more than 3.3 million in the New York Cityarea, said the blackout impacted 51,000 customers, mostly in theboroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, and came as the city’s heat indexwas above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
