A 940 MW combined-cycle natural gas plant proposed for Trumbull County, Ohio, near Youngstown passed a key hurdle this week when it received a favorable recommendation from the Ohio Power Siting Board. The Clean Energy Future-Trumbull project is one of 10 combinedcycle gas plants under development or construction in the Midwest state. Developers hope to make use of the abundant Marcellus and Utica shale gas in the region to build gas plants that would offset the loss of retiring coal generation.
