China’s Emeishan Aluminium Works nin Sichuan province plans to raise its naluminium output by about 10% to n270,000 mt in 2011, compared with the n240,000-250,000 mt produced in 2010, na company source said Tuesday. “There nare power issues here, too, due to the nwinter season, but that will pass after nthe Lunar New Year, so there’s not much nimpact,” the source said. “It’s not so nmuch limited power supply we are facing nnow, but just that power costs are high,” nhe added. “We have a design capacity nto produce up to 350,000 mt/year of naluminum, and depending on market and npower conditions after the break, we can nrevise output accordingly. But for now, nwe aim to reach 270,000 mt this year,” nhe added. The company had resumed nand lifted output over 2009-2010, follow-ning major cutbacks in 2008 due to weak nmarket conditions.
