India’s National Aluminium Co. is expecting nto complete a 525,000 mt/year expansion nof its alumina plant at Koraput in Orissa nby late February, with test runs slated for nMarch and output from April, a company nsource said Tuesday. The expansion will nraise Nalco’s alumina production capacity to n2.1 million mt/year, and the new production ncapacity is expected to be fully operational naround June, or within two months of starting ncommercial runs. The company expects to nuse 920,000 mt/year of its alumina toward nits own production of aluminum, of which nit can make 460,000 mt/year at Angul, nalso in Orissa. Nalco has committed to sell n660,000 mt of alumina in 2011 through nthree one-year term contracts. Almost all the nbalance is expected to be sold through invit-ned sell tenders for single cargoes comprising n30,000 mt each.
