The IAEA General Conference late last month endorsed anresolution on the safety of nuclear materials transport thatnreflected a new climate of cooperation between shippers andncoastal states after years of confrontation.nThe resolution noted coastal states’ concerns over informationnabout shipments and the potential for environmentalnand/or economic damage from a shipping accident, butnalso shippers’ desire to protect the interests of security andnphysical protection.
