A number of modifications to the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) have been proposed in the last few weeks: P217: Put forward by RWE Npower, this modification sets out a complex method for 'tagging' bids and offers in the balancing mechanism. The proposal attempts to separate out bids and offers used for system balancing actions (ie those used by the transmission operator to keep the system running smoothly) from energy balancing actions (those related to the bids and offers for the competitive output from different power stations).
