The Futures and Options Association's (FOA) Power Trading Forum (PTF) has produced a shortlist of three bids from companies for its market design project to create and run a new UK Power exchange. The PTF, which represents more than 50 companies interested in trading power, launched a formal tender for the project in June. It sought detailed proposals on how to deliver a central clearing service for prompt power trading, compile standard reference prices and establish an auction market. The overall aim is to generate a set of reliable and accurate reference prices to provide the basis for a credible power index.
