For some UK energy market observers, the Labour government's passion for launching energy reviews every year or so seems to be one of the main risks of trying to conduct business in the sector. At least one wag has pointed out that this predilection, rather than any problem with the market itself, poses the real risk to new investment decisions and hence future security of supply. As a consequence some are viewing the latest review with some trepidation. In the following article, David Green, chief executive of the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy and veteran of many such reviews, sets out his thoughts on how the government could take energy policy forward in the long-term.
