November was another busy month in the market for EU CO_2 allowances, with the biggest deal yet taking total traded volumes near to the 2.3 million metric tonnes record seen in October. Several market participants said the month started off briskly, then went into the doldrums. The biggest trade so far under the EU emissions trading scheme - for 400,000mt - took place on November 2 at a price of EUD8.72 for December 2006 deliver according to the broker, Evolution Markets. But even a trade this big did not move the market, which Evolution Markets said shows the depth that there now is in the EU emissions market.
