This year's JPCA Show was held, as usual, at the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center. Day 1 ― June 5 ― was somewhat slow, but the second and third were packed with visitors, mostly centered in the East Hall, where the PCB makers exhibited. More than half the booths had Chinese and Korean advertisements posted side-by-side with Japanese ones. There were a large number of Taiwanese companies, from equipment and material suppliers to PCB makers. There were even some South Korean and Chinese exhibitors. Their technological level seems to be ready to crack at the historically difficult Japanese market. Let me give a necessary caveat: No single reporter can cover every aspect of this show. This reporting should be considered a glimpse into Japan's PCB technologies. Approximately 60 Japanese PCB makers exhibited, several as part of "group" exhibitions. DT Technology sponsored a "B2it" booth. Matsushita Electronic Components showed its "ALIVH" process with JVC and Unicap Electronics of Taiwan. Denso sponsored a "PALAP" booth, a new build-up MLB technology, with its six-member consortium. Moreover, regional PCB associations sponsored booths for their members including Nagoya region, Nagano region, and a few others. These team exhibits may signal a trend.
