船舶でのテレビ放送の利用は、陸上と比べ受信状態が安定しないなど劣悪な状況にあるが地上波のニュースや気象情報は局地的な情報を毎日決まった時間に得られるので船舶運航には欠かせないものとなっている。%The Japanese digital terrestrial broadcasting (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting for Terrestrial, ISDB-T) will cover Japanese coastal areas until July 2011. Many types of ISDB-T receivers are come onto the market. However the reception condition on the sea axea hitherto has been rarely reported. This paper describes the result of observing the reception condition of digital TV onboard. The data was acquired on the voyage of the training ship Taisei-Maru (Length 125m, 5887 gross tonnage).rnThe reception condition was measured with an electric filed tester. The reception level was almost more than 45 dBμV inside of the ISDB-T service area with the omni-directional TV antenna for ship. The observed electric field strength level depends on the distance from a TV station. The reception condition decreased clearly when the distance exceeds 85km that is the nominal service area of TV stations because of outside of radio wave horizon.
