摘要

The cell-limiting plasma membrane acts as a selective barrier between the cell and its environment. For the uptake of molecules from the surroundings or from the plasma membrane itself, portions of the membrane are pinched off as small vesicles by a process termed "clathrin-mediated endocytosis." Membrane reshaping during endocytosis requires energy, which can be supplied by an organized assembly of endocytic proteins around the membrane invagination or by the force generated by polymerization of actin filaments (1,2).
