In an industry where projects often run for several months, machinery and plant manufacturers embarking on a project face the challenging task of having to structure it as early as possible and identify any potential resource bottlenecks. However, unlike companies involved in standard production, they don't have any bills of materials or production plans to provide them with the necessary information when the project gets underway. To derive meaningful forecasts, they need a rough-cut plan indicating future capacity based on order specifications and existing orders. In order to map the entire project lifecycle, design and procurement have to be included as well. The task is complex and requires sector-specific, integrated project management.
